Sometime between 1930 and 1950, house developers used asbestos as insulation as well as textured paint and patching compounds. The use of asbestos for fireproofing and insulation was banned around 1973 under the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Air Act and, consequently, in 1989 the EPA decided to ban asbestos use entirely. However, in 1991, a landmark case (Corrosion Proof Fittings vs the EPA) caused the ban on asbestos to be overturned.
Asbestos is everywhere so you might have been exposed to it at one time or another. A little bit of asbestos is not dangerous to your body. It is only when you are exposed to asbestos for an extended period that you get the risk of developing life-threatening illnesses like lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis. Unfortunately, the symptoms of these diseases do not show until many years after exposure to the substance.
Precision Environmental Services is an asbestos company in Flower Mound, Texas that offers its services to residents of the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) area. We have made it our mission to make the environment safe and healthy for our clients by providing, among others, information about a possible asbestos presence in their homes.
Because we pride ourselves on being a professional asbestos company in DFW, we offer top-notch services to manage possible or existing asbestos issues from the beginning to the end of a project.
Asbestos Survey/Inspection & Abatement Process
Our licensed asbestos inspectors at Precision will perform the asbestos survey as mandated by Texas Senate Bill 509 for all public or commercial buildings that are going to be renovated or demolished. Our inspectors will take care of collecting the samples and taking them to a third-party lab for the required Polarized Light Microscopic (PLM) analysis. We will then inform the client of the result and conduct the asbestos abatement process should the client decide to remove the asbestos materials. As an abatement contractor and asbestos consulting company, we can continue with the client through the asbestos removal process.
At Precision, we have trained professionals to collect and analyse the air samples during the survey & abatement process as required by the EPA. Unlike the asbestos survey where we only receive samples to test for asbestos in a laboratory, we measure the airborne fibre content in the work area and check if the controls used to contain said fibres are effective.
When a client decides to remove the asbestos material, Precision’s licensed professionals will be on hand to monitor the project and make sure the entire process complies with TDSHS regulations, project specifications, and the contract. Our project managers at Precision are not only licensed, but also NIOSH 582 trained.
When not taken care of properly, asbestos can be a costly problem as it can delay your project. Our asbestos experts at Precision Environmental Services can manage your asbestos issues efficiently and effectively.
